Snapshots in QCloud allow customers to create point-in-time backups of their storage volumes, enabling easy restoration or duplication of data. This guide covers how to list, create, and delete snapshots within the QCloud interface.
List Snapshots #

- Login to the QCloud customer portal.
- Navigate to Providers >> OpenStack >> Storage >> Snapshots.
- The listing page displays all existing snapshots with the following details:
- Name – Snapshot name.
- Status – Current status (e.g., Available, In Progress, or Error).
- Created – Timestamp of snapshot creation.
- Description – Optional description provided during snapshot creation.
- Size (GB) – The allocated storage size.
- Volume – The source volume from which the snapshot was created.
- Actions – Available actions for managing snapshots.
After navigating to the Snapshots section, a list of existing snapshots is displayed. Use the filters or search bar to locate specific snapshots by name, status, or volume association.
Create Snapshot #

To create a new storage snapshot:
- Click the Create Snapshot button.
- Fill in the following details:
- Source Volume ID – Select the volume for which the snapshot will be created.
- Name – Enter a recognizable name for the snapshot.
- Description (Optional) – Provide additional details about the snapshot’s purpose.
- Click Create to initiate the process. The system will create the snapshot and display its status on the listing page.
Use Cases of Snapshots #
- Backup & Recovery: Quickly restore a volume from a previous state.
- Cloning & Replication: Use snapshots to create new volumes with the same data.
- Disaster Recovery: Protect against accidental data loss or corruption.
